Afterschool Amplified

Camp Tekoa's Afterschool program offers skill-based classes/workshops throughout the school year in addition to our normal afterschool activities. Classes we have offered in the past include climbing, cooking, mountain biking, textile crafting, photography, paddling, cooking with fire and more!

How does it work?

Campers will attend afterschool like normal, but then will join their class from 4:00-5:00 each day of instruction. The cost for the session of classes is in addition to normal afterschool fees.

Each class will have up to 12 campers. Campers will be with mixed ages and will participate and learn according to their own comfort, ability, and skill level.

Fall 2026 Classes: 

Fall Classes begin the week of October 19 and end the week of November 25. 

Monday: Nature Explorer: Learn to appreciate and understand the wildlife and natural wonders of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Activities will include exploring the woods around camp; learning orienteering skills; making a craft using natural materials; recognizing and identifying plants and animals. (Grades 3-5)
Tuesday: Water Skills: Practice and learn some basic skills our lifeguards use to keep you safe. Learn basic boat skills and terminology. We will focus specifically on canoe skills and paddle boards. (Grades K-5)
Wednesday: Music: Participants will learn some of our basic camp songs to sing along to, design and create their own instrument, and learn basics of how to read music. (Grades K-2)
