Summertime is our favorite time of year at Camp Tekoa. Each week kids from all over the country flock to our camp in Hendersonville, North Carolina, ready to take part in one of our many expressions of summer camp. Day camps, overnight camps, adventure camps, family camps, and special needs camps; you name it, we deliver.
Summer is coming up soon, and as kids finish up their school year, it is time to start thinking about summer camp! According to the American Camping Association (ACA), summer camp attendance is exploding, with over 14 million campers each year.
Parents are on a never-ending quest to make sure they are providing opportunities for family bonding. You want to spend quality time together, but that means striking the right balance between downtime and activities. If you plan too much downtime, the kids might start fighting. If you plan too many activities, you don’t get enough time to talk and get closer.
For college students, summer break may offer a reprieve from long nights of writing papers and cramming for exams. It also might represent a chance to work and earn enough money to offset some of the costs of your education like tuition, rent, and food.
If you intend to spend your summer working, you might be thinking about trying to get a job at a coffee shop or restaurant. Of course, the ones you want to work at may not be hiring, and the ones that are hiring may have open positions because they are tough places to work. That’s just how it is, right?
