At Camp Tekoa, children have the opportunity to try new things, master skills (such as shooting a bow and arrow and hitting a bullseye), conquer fears (such as overcoming the fear of heights by climbing to the top of the climbing tower), spend time in nature, and grow in their relationships with Christ.
Parents will do anything to make sure their kids have every opportunity to grow and learn. So much of our lives are centered on educating our children. We want to make sure they’re getting the most out of every moment of their education.
“School-age children and youth spend 80 percent of their waking hours outside of school, while 1 in 5 young people in the U.S. are alone after the school day ends.”
When the school day ends, after school and homeschool programs can help supplement your child’s school experience in a way they’ll really enjoy. In this article, we’re discussing the benefits of afterschool programs at camps like Tekoa.
The current Western lifestyle is inundated with the go go go mentality. Always “doing” and “hustle culture” is the prevailing message that we often see, especially in the corporate world. We are always in constant contact with our jobs due to the many advances in technology, and it can be hard to leave work at work.
While there isn't anything wrong with getting things done, we often forget that it is important to set time aside and focus on reflecting inward as well as building deep connections with those around us.
So much of who we are is wrapped up in the idea that we can recharge on the weekends, but the extreme nature of society today makes it very hard. Retreats are a great opportunity to get away from the noise to focus on whatever is at hand, whether it be a church retreat or a corporate gathering.
Just think of all the beautiful times you had at summer camp. Is the nostalgia hitting yet? It sure is for us, which is why we get it when the American Camp Association says that 92% of campers feel better about themselves, and 70% of parents believe that their children grow in self-confidence because of summer camp.
When Camp Tekoa started this journey in 1949, we knew that we needed to set ourselves apart and build our mission around that. “Touching hearts, changing lives, and sharing the light of Christ.” has been our guiding light since the beginning, and we have set ourselves up to do that with excellence.
We provide a variety of summer resident and day camps for boys and girls, featuring incredible experiences and state-of-the-art facilities. We pull all of this together intending to deliver a camp experience like no other. Want to know what makes us unique?
