Recovering from Hurricane Helene
Camp Tekoa has been overwhelmed with the offers of support in the wake of Hurricane Helene. Although we were very lucky, there was a fair amount of damage and we appreciate all those who have offered to help.
We are going to hold a Hurricane Clean Up Work Weekend October 25-27. We are looking for help cleaning, chainsawing and chipping, digging ditches, doing trail repair, and more. Our equipment is limited, so it is extremely helpful for volunteers to bring their own if possible, and all volunteers should bring their own work gloves and eye protection. You may come for the day, or for the weekend; as an individual or as a family or group; we will feed and house you. There is no cost to attend, but please register via the link below so that we have an accurate head count for meals and project planning.
Work Weekend Registration Form
This weekend is open to all ages, but please be aware that it will be focused on work and may not be safe for young children. While we will have time for fellowship and fun in the evenings, there will not be activities provided. As always, no dogs and no alcohol/drugs/tobacco are permitted at camp.
We anticipate that this will be only the first weekend set aside for hurricane clean up, so if you are unable to make it this time, there will be other opportunities to help. We are also planning a Staff Alumni Afternoon on Sunday, November 10, which will be family friendly, and will combine a service project with camp fun and fellowship. If you would like to help but are unable to volunteer, please consider donating via our website or shopping in our online store.
