Camp Tekoa’s Afterschool program offers skill-based classes/workshops throughout the school year in addition to our normal afterschool activities. Classes we have offered in the past include climbing, cooking, mountain biking, textile crafting, photography, paddling, cooking with fire and more!
How does it work?
Amplified is a 6 week skills workshop where campers meet once a week with their class to work on skill building and exploration. We offer 3-5 classes during each session. Classes meet from 4:00-5:00pm on their designated day. Monday Classes will start Monday 1/26 due to the holiday. All other classes begin Tuesday 1/20. During this winter session we are offering:
Mondays - Fabric and Threads with Eleanor (3-5 grade only) - Campers will build on current sewing and fabric skills to make a creative project to take home.
Mondays - Performing Arts with Elizabeth and Wes (all grades) Campers learn basic theatre skills and use those to put on a small production at the end of the 6 weeks.
Wednesdays - Junior Chef with Elizabeth and Alicia (K-2nd grade only) - A very basic cooking class focused on simple ingredient recipes, kitchen safety, measuring and cutting skills etc. Campers will enjoy treats in this class as well.
Fridays - Kindergarten Explorers With Josie (Kindergarten Only) - This is a new class where campers will dabble in baking, sewing, and other art skills at a level specific to their developmental age.
The price for these classes is an extra $10 per day in addition to our regular afterschool rate if attending afterschool that day. This helps cover the cost of supplies and our staff.
